  2. In an analogue terrestrial television broadcast, RGB information is converted into YUV, and then coded into luminance (Y) and chrominance (C) information. These two are combined (together with synchronisation information) into a CVBS signal. A colour decoder separates CVBS into Y and C, and decodes the C signal into U and V colour difference signals. A matrix converts YUV to RGB. There are various standards for transmitting the colour information. The colour decoder can be forced to use a certain standard, or it can detect the standard automatically. In the latter case, the user of the interface can suggest a certain standard, to speed up the detection process
